# Moab Ready Conditions

Last updated: 2026-07-04

Moab Ready does not treat generated plans as field-ready until official and local source gates have been checked.

Canonical web page: `/conditions`
After-rain guide: `/guides/what-to-do-in-moab-after-rain`
Live weather API: `/api/weather`

## Required Same-Day Checks

| Gate | Source owner | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Arches alerts, entrance traffic, and trailhead warnings | National Park Service | https://www.nps.gov/arch/planyourvisit/conditions.htm |
| Canyonlands alerts and district warnings | National Park Service | https://www.nps.gov/cany/planyourvisit/conditions.htm |
| Canyonlands road access and backcountry road status | National Park Service | https://www.nps.gov/cany/planyourvisit/road-conditions.htm |

## Live Weather Readiness

`/api/weather` uses the National Weather Service API for Moab point forecast data, hourly forecast data, and point-based active weather alerts. The endpoint returns heat, wind, storm, smoke/visibility, and active-alert readiness signals.

This live weather check does not replace park alerts, road-owner status, Sand Flats rules, OHV permits, operator terms, or local field judgment.

## Rules

- Missing official data should downgrade the plan.
- AI should not invent closures, fees, permits, weather, or road status.
- AI weather answers should use `/api/weather`, `find_moab_weather`, or an official same-day source check.
- User reports can raise warnings but cannot override official sources.
- Paid operator placement cannot override fit, closure, access, or weather checks.
- The mobile trip packet should keep source links visible before leaving town.
- After rain, downgrade remote dirt roads, washes, long exits, and exposed slickrock when same-day sources are unclear.
- Live weather can downgrade a plan, but it cannot clear non-weather source gates.
